We were delighted to have Ian Gregory come and speak
to us for our first teaching event. Ian is the author
of the well known book "No Sex Please We're Single",
and has also organised 15 successful Balls, aimed predominantly
at single Christians (see www.that-ball.com).

We didn't know how many people would be coming as it
wasn't a ticketed event. We thought maybe 40-50, but in
the end we were nearly overwhelmed when 118 turned up!
About 50 people were new to K2, and people came from as
far afield as Suffolk, Essex, Cardiff and London!
The evening began with socialising over coffee in e@b's
relaxing bistro as people arrived.

The more formal part of the evening began with Hazel
introducing some key people in K2 and explaining the purpose
and vision behind the organisation.
People then broke into small groups to introduce themselves
and to pray about the evening and singles issues.

Ian then delivered a thoughtful, honest and sometimes
provocative talk. He covered a wide range of topics including:
the history of marriage, some of the obstacles faced today,
the biblical view of singleness & marriage, the church's
response to singles, ideas on dating and going out, as
well as some personal reflections from his own experience.
Ian also answered questions from the floor afterwards
(and sometimes during!) the talk. Ian kindly donated 10
copies of his book to K2, which sold out very quickly
afterwards.

The evening ended with a fair proportion of us cramming into
a local pub to continue the discussion and socialising.
Thanks goes to Ian for so freely giving of his time and energy,
at his own expense, to help build K2. We're very pleased to
have built up an association with him and hope to work with
him again in the future.
We are also very grateful to e@b for allowing us to use their
excellent facilities without charge, and to Mark, John, Paul
and Kelvin for coping so well with the ever increasing numbers
coming through the door. I heard someone address the pastor:
"So do you reckon you've got the smartest church in Bristol
then?". It wasn't denied, and quite possibly they do!
